MisMerch’d V1

MisMerch’d is a conceptual art project documenting items placed in the wrong place in grocery stores with accompanying musings on consumption, religion, politics, popular culture, love, life and death in the guise of sophomoric haiku.

MisMerch’d V1 features juxtapositions observed between the years of 2015 and 2018 primarily in the Safeway at West 26th Avenue and Federal Boulevard in Denver, Colorado. All vignettes were captured in situ, exactly as they were encountered.

First published in 2018, MisMerch’d Volume 1: The Everyday Value Issue is the first publication of the MisMerch’d series and is currently available in a new, expanded fourth edition now with 25% more haiku. MisMerch’d V1 is a 24-page zine printed and bound by hand in Denver, Colorado. The covers are printed on 100# French Kraft Speckletone on a Chandler & Price Craftsman press. Covers feature a letterpress title printed in neon green ink atop a white pressure-printed stencil of a paper grocery bag. Each zine is affixed with a custom neon price sticker featuring four phrases – Hot Buy, Holy Cow, Blow Out, and Price Slasher.

He came to your house

fed sugar to your children

it had to be done

beep, whir, beep, stir, slurp

gurgle, cramp, churn, sit, release

plop, scrub, flush, repeat
